Network Marketing Training… Your Weakness Is Not Your Technique

“Network Marketing Training”
…or How to Become an MLM KungFu Master

I Know KungFu…

I see a lot of people waltzing in and out of the network marketing industry.
It seems the players change almost every day.

They show up out of nowhere, they have a blog, they joined a company, a system and shazam… all of a sudden they know kungfu!

The response that typically brings the most profound reality check?

… Show Me.

I’m proud of you for getting started, getting in your company, getting your blog up and running.

Now show me your kungfu. Don’t just blog about it. Put on your gear and let’s see what you’ve got.

Are you training to be a professional network marketer?

Are you actively building a business?
Are you consistently doing the core practices that build a team?
Are you testing and implementing and passing on your knowledge to empower your team members?

Are you practicing your form, your kata…
Inviting and following up, inviting and following up, inviting and following up..
In your horse stance day after day after day until your thighs are made of concrete?

… or are you just dancing around in a pretty costume flailing a pair of nunchaku thinking you’re Bruce Lee?

Some rules can be bent, some can be broken.

The most important thing I’ve ever learned about business and network marketing is this… Outside of legal and corporate laws or guidelines, there are no rules.

The entrepreneurial world is a magical landscape where so called “rules” can be bent and often times broken.

There are no absolutes. You can be what ever you want, how ever you want.
The only truth is how effective you are.

You may try something that does fantastic for you.
While the next person comes along and tries the same thing and fails miserably.
That does not make it gospel either way.

Don’t let your programed reality get in the way of your success.
Do not be afraid or intimidated to try something, to experiment, to step out of your sphere of preconceived notions, beliefs and ideas about what you think may or may not work in the business world.

And never compare yourself to someone else.
Never compare what you will accomplish to what someone else has or has not been able to achieve.

Hit me… If you can.

Throughout the match Neo is showboating…
He uses all sorts of fancy moves and different styles.
But ultimately he is ineffective against the consistency of Morpheus’ technique and application of skill, but more than anything his lack of understanding of the way things work within the realm of the Matrix.

This goes back to basic Network Marketing Training
You must practice the shaping of your mindset.
You must constantly meditate and seek to understand the world you stepped into.
It is unlike anything you would have experienced in a job, working for someone, relying on a weekly paycheck, trading dollars for hours.

In this world, nothing is what you think it is and you can shape the reality of it as you go along.

Your Weakness Is Not Your Technique.

There are several layers to statement that affect your network marketing business. It’s not so much about your technique, this strategy or that strategy, this service or that tool.

Your weakness is in your lack of consistency.
Your weakness is in your lack of implementation.
Your weakness is in your lack of actual testing.
Your weakness is in your lack of process and systemization.

Your weakness is in being scattered all over the place with no clear focus.

"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." ~ Bruce Lee

How Did I Beat You?

Morpheus challenges the very root of Neo’s belief system and what he thinks he knows to be true.

Did the leaders you see on stage, in videos on magazine covers, etc. beat you because they are stronger than you, smarter than you, better looking than you, richer than you, faster than you, better connected than you, younger than you, older than you, wiser than you, more experienced than you?

I would argue the answer is no.
The answer lies in their daily training and practice as a professional network marketer.

The goal here is to challenge the very essence of what you have been taught to believe about what can and cannot be accomplished in your business and it all applies to you.

To challenge the very core of what you think is effective and what keeps you “busy.”
To challenge you to ask “Is it actually growing your business?”

  • Poise
  • Discipline
  • Patience
  • Mastery

These are all characteristics of successful network marketers.

Do you think that’s air you’re breathing now?

Let me put it this way…

Do you think that next webinar is going to make you successful?
Do you think that next email is going to make you successful?
Do you think the next course you buy s going to make you successful?
Do you think the next meeting you go to is going to make you successful?

Do you believe being busy is the same as being productive?

Hmm…

What are you waiting for… You’re faster than this.

You’ve watched webinar after webinar, purchased course after course, chased shiny object after shiny object, hunting for the magic network marketing training that will somehow change everything…

What Are You Waiting For?
You have what you need.
Use it!

Stop chasing silver bullets and magic beans.
Use what you’ve learned. Put it into action and create some results.

No matter if the results are positive or seemingly negative.
Results are results no matter the outcome and they give you something to work from.

No webinar, course or ebook can give you that.
Experiential knowledge cannot be bought… you have to earn it the old fashioned way.

Don’t think you are… know you are.

Your belief in yourself, your company, your product and your opportunity are vital to your success.

You must believe without question that you will succeed.

Don’t think you are worthy… know you are.
Don’t think you are smart enough… know you are.
Don’t think you are ready… know you are.
Don’t think you are going to be successful… know you are.
Don’t think you are going to build a huge team… know you are.
Don’t think you will live the life you want… know you are.

Don’t think you might be one of the chosen… Know You Are.

Stop trying to hit me and “Hit Me!”

Stop dancing around and FIGHT!
Get in, get your hands dirty and get to work.
What ever level of network marketing training you’ve had to this point is enough to make your move.

Stop trying to start and Start.
Stop thinking about calling your list and Call Them.
Stop thinking about inviting someone to watch your presentation and Invite Them.
Stop second guessing yourself and Be Bold.

Stop trying to be a leader and Be One.

I know what you’re trying to do.
You’re absolutely right… I’m trying to free your mind.

Here’s the reality of of it all…
No matter how many secrets we reveal, no matter how many ninja tactics we show you, no matter how many times we say the same thing over and over and over and over….

You have to make the decision to turn off the tv, close Facebook, tell everyone to leave you alone, close the door behind you and get to work.

It is only when you gain clear focus and begin to understand that the only limitations to achieving your success are the limitations you place on yourself.

No one can or will do it for you.

But I can only show you the door.
You’re the one that has to walk through it.

How much more network marketing training do you need?

  1. It’s not ‘practice makes perfect’…it’s ‘perfect practice makes perfect’.

None of us get it right out of the gate, but can achieve mastery over time. You nailed it at the beginning, so many jump in and out, pass through or even camp out on the edges of network marketing without ever committing themselves.

  2. Richard, I just saw this again last night, thanks to your post. I really admire how deeply you heard all these points and applied them to network marketing. I too coach mlm’ers like this. Are you also a martial artist? ~ Bess McCarty

  3. Richard, I love this post. So much truth to everything you have written. Take that first step and use what you already know and then you will be ready for the next step and the next and….til you are walking through the door.

    • “Take that first step and use what you already know and then you will be ready for the next step and the next and….till you are walking through the door.”

      That’s it =)

  4. Shoot Richard,

That’s about as incisive as it gets:

I don’t at all practice these key things enough:

I will post this on my dashboard:

“Don’t let your programed reality get in the way of your success

Your weakness is in your lack of consistency.
Your weakness is in your lack of implementation.
Your weakness is in your lack of actual testing.
Your weakness is in your lack of process and systemization.

Your weakness is in being scattered all over the place with no clear focus.”

I would say by understanding our weakness … only then can I understand my strength!! (and discover and use it).

    Thanks,

    John.

  5. Richard, this hit me hard the first time I read it, and it hit me harder just now. I like reading your blog and think there is something good happening…some threshold I am crossing soon. I hope you’ll be writing more in the future. God bless!

  6. There is immense power in focus. To be successful in business or in life, you have to choose what you focus on. Some people major in minor things and focus on things that don’t really matter in the big scheme of things.

I like what John said above. We can only understand our strength by understanding our weakness. Thanks for sharing!

  7. This is really powerful information. Discipline is such a huge part of making it.

  8. This is so powerful! I applies to every aspect of life. If you want success just know you already have it and act accordingly – this ‘practice’ will produce all sorts of results – that the learning and the lessons we learn that will make us fulfilled.

  9. Great post, Richard. I think that’s the most profound and interesting way I’ve ever heard this concept presented: “Don’t think you are going to be successful… know you are.” Thanks for that.
