Are Viruses Eating You Alive? Why I Love Apple – Part 1

Print Friendly

I recently came across a discussion on the Better Networker forums where a lady was discussing viruses on Windows based PCs and wondering who had the best software solution to curb the problems.

I chimed in with this solution…

Buy a Mac!
No seriously, buy a Mac.

I was on with Apple support today, the tech is an ex-military techie.
He was explaining to me some of the more sophisticated aspects of the Apple OS native encryption and security that blew me away. That one phone call opened my eyes to a side of Apple I really never paid attention to and I’ve been on a Mac since the LC III. So I was already a dedicated a user. But that one phone call single handedly sealed the deal forever. I WILL NEVER switch or TRUST a windows machine ever again. And am now a true Mac evangelist.

I ran one of my companies on Windows for 5 years and it was just so damn frustrating. All the patches, updates, fixes, random crashes, virus and worm attacks, on and on and on. Not too mention LAME support.

Macs absolutely cost more up front, there is no question there. But I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that running our new affiliate/cpa marketing, network marketing, seo services businesses and the new models we have in place for automation and so forth, that we would have only developed a third to maybe half of what we have in the last 8 months running everything on an Apple network and hardware as we would have on a Windows network. All for one reason alone… “PRODUCTIVITY!”

I turn on my Mac and go to work. No long boot cycles. No hard drive scans. No blue screens of death, no random crashes, no lengthy resource heavy virus scans. No firewall errors to jam the network. All of it… Gone!

And I am sorry, but when I call Apple, Everyone Speaks Fluent English and Understands What I’m Saying. I dealt with Dell for 7 miserable years. Outsourcing absolutely has it’s place and there are things that folks in other countries do from a productivity and “get shit done” perspective that puts a lot of American workers to shame, but when it comes to talking about complex concepts and technical lingo to fix your computer or a network issue, wiping out the language barrier is paramount.

Apple just delivers on every point across the board, hands down.

But you have to decide for yourself….
Save a couple of hundred dollars up front in exchange for hours and hours of wasted time on constant support issues. Or buy the Benz, be done with it and enjoy the ride from day one.

That’s it.
Oh yeah…. Did I mention how much I really like Apple computers yet?
