Akismet Ani-SPAM Worpress Plugin
This is just a quick post to talk about how powerful the anti-SPAM plugin, Akismet, for WordPress is. I love this plugin! It does exactly what it is intended to do and does it very well.
Akismet is like the gatekeeper to your precious blogs comment content. It stands guard 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; never sleeping, never failing. Spammers are stopped dead in their miserable tracks by Akismet’s potent SPAM fighting super powers.
This simple little plugin is a blog owner or admin’s dream come true. From an administrative perspective you just can’t ask for anything better in my humble opinion. Whenever you login to your blog, especially taking into consideration the awesome new WordPress 2.7 update, and right there on the dashboard you can see if any spam comments have been captured by the system. With a coupld of somple clicks of the mouse you can quickly scan the detained comments, evaluate if they are truly spam and in one swift action, “click” their gone!
Akismet now comes pre-installed with WordPress 2.7 but is easily downloaded for use on older versions. If you don’t have this plugin on your blog, or if you haven’t upgraded to WP 2.7 yet, then by all means do it now! The new WordPress interface rocks! The new Ajax features allow for lightning quick edits for nearly any component of your blog; either updating a post title, deleting a link, creating a new page and of course updating anything in the system.
